Underwater Digital Cameras for Beginners

You and your family are probably planning your first trip together and you are thinking of going underwater by snorkeling or diving to discover another world, but of course that would not be complete without underwater digital cameras that you can use to capture such precious moments.

The problem is, you are not a pro when it comes to these kinds of gadgets. Well, the good news is that this article will teach you the basics when it comes to underwater cameras.

As beginners, the perfect selection of underwater digital cameras would be the point and shoot models that can work with much versatility. An example of which would be the relatively inexpensive 12MP waterproof Fujifilm Finepix XP10 camera. It has 5x optical zoom and a 2.7 inch LCD screen camera where you can view your photos.

It can take photos until 10 feet under water, which would be perfect if you are going to use it with your kids as you snorkel. Aside from being waterproof, it is also freezeproof (up to14 degrees Fahrenheit or -10 degrees Celsius) and dustproof.

The Fujinon lens of the Finepix XP10 also offers superb clarity of photos. This camera can even take 720p widescreen, VGA or QVGA videos. Just like using a good underwater video camera.

Another suggestion would be the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS10A, a camera that offers a 14.1 megapixel resolution. It is very similar to the camera described above.

Like the Finepix XP10, the Lumix DMC-TSC10A can also take photos up to a depth of 10 feet, is dustproof, and is freezeproof up to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. It is also shockproof up to 5 feet. Even if it only has 4x optical zoom, it still can record HD videos in 720p motion.

The Lumix DMC-TSC10A has Panasonic’s popular Intelligent Auto (iA) mode to compete with the Fujinon lens as it makes it easy for any beginner to take clear and great photos. The MEGA O.I.S. also helps in reducing blurs in photos caused by shaking hands, which is the tendency when beginners are taking photos underwater.

There really are a lot of underwater digital cameras to choose from these days. Aside from these two suggestions, you can look at the selections offered by Pentax and SeaLife.
